I read Whymper's account of the first ascent of the Matterhorn as a teenager, it made such an impression I persuaded friends to include Zermatt as a stop on our Interrail trip a few years later just so I could see it first hand. It seems that Instagram's new preferred image ratio is 4:5 so here's a picture of a tree on a cold morning to see what it looks like.But I really like the square crop, I used to shoot a lot of square format film and always thought it had echoes of album covers. From Meall nan Caorach, looking north across the wind farms of Glen Cochill towards Being a'Ghlo.Turbines dominate the view while plantations and grouse moors dominate the land. Look the other way and it's just plantations and grouse moors as far as the eye can see.Turbines I understand, but placement is key. Plantation too, so long as there's more mixed woodland.
